imagesHave you filled out your brackets? It shouldn’t be far from what everyone has bet on – Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse (will Arinze Onuaku be there?) and ha, here comes the nub, what will the fourth one be? Is it Duke or any other? A dark horse from Arkansas?

Moving on, Prez Obama has completed his “Baracket” A basketball fan, he’s playing it safe in his picks for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

He announced his predictions on ESPN: He likes the University of Kansas over Kansas State University in one semifinal game and the University of Kentucky over Villanova University in the other. All four are first- or second-seeded teams. His favorite to win is Kansas.

Did you hear the story of a team announcing it deserved a lesser seeding position? Yes, the story is true in a world where coaches constantly rant of their teams being under-seeded.

Well, Louisville coach Rick Pitino isn’t one of them. He said on ESPNU on Monday afternoon that he was hoping for a lesser seed. Pitino believes the chances for the Cardinals to advance much further into the tournament would be brighter if they had got a No. 10 or 11 seed. The No. 1 seed would have been on the other side of the draw. With the No.9 seeding, they will face top-seeded Duke in the second round, if they can overcome No. 8 seed California, a team Pitino referred to as “the toughest first-round opponent”. “They’re a top 20 team, they’re a dominant team,” Pitino told the Louisville Courier-Journal. “We realize we’re facing one of the more underrated teams in the country.”

The irony is that his team probably did deserve a 10 or 11 seed, if you discount their two wins over Syracuse. They can console themselves that they will meet Duke and not any of the other three giants.
